AkaMya Culture Group in collaboration with the Mono Arts Council will be continuing our bi-weekly Social Dance Classes. These classes are free, and you can register on the Mono Arts Council Website. www.monoarts.org

Pow Wow Night- Margaret L. Romero Cultural Studio, Big Pine, CA
Pow Wow Night Classes will continue unless posted for event or postponement. Dance Nights take place every Tues. & Wed. at the Margaret L. Romero Cultural Studio in Big Pine, CA at 6pm. Classes are free and open to community. Join us and get some practice and movement in during the Winter Season. All skill levels and ages are encouraged to attend. Inyo Council of Arts will be helping to sponsor our Pow Wow Dance Nights.

We continue our ongoing Hoop Dance Class Training. Given the winter season, and time, Classes are subject to postponement or cancellation. Registration is recommended so that you will be updated on class status.

Lone Pine After School Pow Wow Song and Dance- Locations will change, follow social media for updates.
Collaboration with Inyo Council of the Arts. After School program sharing Pow Wow Song and Dance with the Lone Pine students and families. A part of the AkaMya Outreach program.

Tovowahamatu Singers Paiute Song & Dance- Margaret L. Romero Cultural Studio, Big Pine, CA
By special request, we are bringing back out Paiute Song & Dance Classes. This will be a time to meet, discuss and practice the songs and dance of our Numu people. We are revitalizing some songs from the Tovowahamatu Ribbon Dancers group which was founded by the late Margaret L. Romero and other local Paiute women as way to promote our traditional heritage.
All families are welcome to join and also share their songs and ways in which they were taught of the Ribbon Dance and War Dances from our valley.

Family Social Night- Margaret L. Romero Cultural Studio, Big Pine, CA
Family members and volunteers of AkaMya will host an open night for families to come together and pow wow practice. This is an open studio night which allows community members to come and see what the group is about, and the wellness gym is also open with weights, and infrared sauna.

AkaMya Potluck Meeting- Margaret L. Romero Cultural Studio, Big Pine, CA
We will start hosting monthly potluck for participants of AkaMya and their families. This will be a time for sharing and visiting. We will also be able to plan and coordinate for upcoming events and fundraisers which will be ongoing through the year. AkaMya will post regularly, so that participants and their families can join us and bring any themed dishes or items.

Community Art Day & Sierra Earth Day

AkaMya presentation and Land Acknowledgement will kick off the event. We will also have a booth with Pueblo Oven Bread, Feast Cookies, Baked Goods, Arts & Crafts, fundraiser and information! Come celebrate our Mother Earth together at the Bishop City Park.

2026 Annual Manzanar Pilgrimage Cultural Exchange-

AkaMya Culture Group will again be collaborating with the Florin JACL, California CAIRS and local delegates to share culture and continue our collaboration with our friends visiting for the annual Manzanar Pilgrimage.
We will be sharing dancing, live music, Taiko Drums, Obon, culture and stories in a setting as we continue this new tradition of bringing our people together through culture. All are welcome to join in this annual celebration and honoring.
